Snack Bag Anyone?

The Friday before this Friday, the kids got another lunch bag full of crap after their game.

In this lunch bag they received Scooby Doo snacks and Rice Krispie Treat.  As you can imagine, my brain died and I was determined that if snack bags were going to be a contest, I was going to win.  Like when did having more than one snack become a normal requirement?  As if one snack isn't enough?

Speaking of excessive, the brewery that gives us free beer mash to feed our poultry started giving Bob free beer.  We have four pallets of beer now.

The brewery got bought out by a new place and couldn't sell any of the beer that was already labeled so they just gave it away.  I like to think Jerry had something to do with that!  I laughed and laughed at the thought of Jerry seeing all this beer.

Austin won $25 in the football pool on Super Bowl Sunday.  Bob killed one of the turkeys on the Thursday before Super Bowl Sunday and he smoked it for 24 hours.  It was absolutely delish.

Bob had a big party at his house and we all brought sides and we had smoked turkey sandwiches and the kids hung out in his Man Cave.

I had a picture of the turkey in the smoker.  He was 45 pounds fully dressed and Bob had to sawzall it in half to fit in the smoker.  Sarah deleted the photo now that she has access to my camera.  Drats.

During Jerry's funeral, one of his nephews spoke and said one of his favorite memories of his Uncle Jerry was hanging out with him in Bob's Man Cave and shooting pool.  I've never written about this, but right after Jerry's nephew went on and on about Bob's Man Cave, Bob got up to speak and said, "I'm Bob." and everyone laughed because it was perfect timing.

We've had beautiful weather over the last week and the kids have spent every minute of it outside after school.

Amanda's dance teacher told us on Tuesday that this isn't her real job.  She said, "I've been doing this for 25 years because I'm crazy."

As you can imagine, I love her.

Speaking of crazy, it was our turn for snacks this Friday.  I was determined to make a healthy option for the kids.

So I wrapped pretzel sticks up in festive tissue and ribbon.

Then I added three strawberries in little Valentine's Day bags I got at the dollar store.  Then I made chocolate chip cookies and gave each child a cookie with an apple juice.

Who says healthy has to be boring?  Behold!  My Superfragilisticexpialidociaous Snack Bag!!!!  Greg actually walked by when I was making these and told me I'm psychotic.

Well, duh!

Then he said, "I'd never let our kids eat anything homemade from these other people.  It could have cat hair in it."

When we were sitting on the benches during the game, Greg said, "What's with all these kids and their stupid hair?", regarding all the kids on our team with Mohawks.  We were sitting right next to one of the parents of the child with stupid hair when he said it.  OMG.  Where is the escape hatch when I need it?

Snack bag anyone?

The kids were all, "Wow!", when I handed out the bags and I didn't stick around to see if they ate them but my kids sure did.

Every Friday after school, we've been meeting all the kids' classmates and their parents at the park.

I brought all the kids fresh banana bread and strawberries.  One of the moms was shocked that her daughter ate the banana bread.

"She ate that?", her mother asked in disbelief.

"It's cake with bananas in it.  Why wouldn't she?", I pondered.

My kids have found such a great group of kids to hang out with at school.  One of the boys that Sarah is in GATE with comes with his parents and his mother told me he has a major crush on Sarah.  Sarah is clueless though.  It's so cute. I'm really pleased with their friend making decisions.  I like all the kids a lot.  They are a great bunch of kids.

On Friday, our friend who fishes in Mexico five or six times a year, brought over freshly caught sushi-grade yellow fin tuna.  Last night, we cut it up into sashimi and the kids and thei neighborhood friends devoured it.  Greg just sliced it up and poured soy sauce on it and threw it in a bowl.

My neighbor Jo also got fish from our fish benefactor and these were her Facebook wall photos this morning.

Ohmygosh, she wins!!!!!!!!!!!!  I wonder if I drop the rest of the fish off if she can make me a snack bag?
